Learn the starter toolkit first
You do not need every tool on day one. You need the right few, kept clean and organized, and an understanding of what each is for. TMA has short lessons on essential tools for new technicians that are a good place to begin.
Ask better questions
The fastest learners ask specific questions: what did you check first, and why? Curiosity about the reasoning, not only the repair, is what builds troubleshooting skill.
Respect the home you are entering
Every work order is a visit to someone’s home. Knock, identify yourself, explain what you are there to do and leave the space clean. Those habits earn trust and make the next visit easier.
Put safety ahead of speed
Eye protection, lockout/tagout, heat awareness and safe ladder use are not optional extras. Build them in from the start and they stop feeling like extra steps.
Keep learning in small pieces
Five minutes with a focused lesson before a repair can be worth more than an hour of guessing. Short video lessons are designed for exactly that moment.
